PAST

Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College was established 33 years ago in the year 1973 with an aim to serve the society. Eminent men from different walks of life joined hands to promote the cause of education by establishing institutions of higher education with service as the motive. To name a few Sri K. Jaya Bharata Reddy, I.A.S., the then District Collector, Visakhapatnam, Dr. M. Gopala Krishna Reddy, former Vice-Chancellor, Andhra University, Professor K.V. Sivayya, Andhra University, Sri V.B.V. Reddy and Sri K. Pattabhirama Reddy businessmen of repute in Visakhapatnam and many others.

These men and others formed into a cooperative society called Society for Collegiate Education and under the aegis of this society Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College was established. The College began with B.com. Degree programme and in due course B.B.M. Degree programme and B.Sc. with varied combinations were subsequently added. The Society for Collegiate Education subsequently established two more colleges Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya Junior College in 1978 and in the year 1994 Post Graduate wing was added to the college with M.C.A., Programme and in due course Dr, Lankapalli Bullayya College of Education was added in the year 2002.

PRESENT

Ever since the establishment of the College many milestones have been crossed and the college has been growing from strength to strength. At present the College is offering 13 programmes at the Under Graduate level and 12 programmes at the Post Graduate level. 2500 students are studying Under Graduate and Post Graduate programmes in our College. 130 teachers are taking care of these students. For administrative reasons the College is divided into three segments. (1) B.Com., segment headed by the Principal (2) B.B.M. & B. Sc, segment headed by one Director; and (3) P.G., segments headed by another Director. The academic activities of all the three segments are directed and monitored by a Rector. Total executive control of the entire college is under Secretary & Correspondent.

INFRASTRUCTURE FACILITIES


The College occupies an area of 10 acres with built up space of more than one lakh square feet. The College has good infrastructure facilities such as Library, Laboratories, Sports & Games, N.C.C., N.S.S, and others.

LIBRARY


The College has a spacious and open access library spread over an area of 7000 square feet catering to the needs of Under Graduate & Post Graduate students and teachers. The library possesses 26,000 Books, 31 Magazines, 89 Journals, and 09 Newspapers. Work is in progress on computerization of the library, internet connectivity and LAN facility. Our library is a member of American Information Resource Centre (AIRC) of American consulate, Chennai. This membership gives privilege to our students and teachers to borrow books from AIRC, educational audio/video CDs and extracts on specified subjects from their data bank.

LABORATORIES


The College has well equipped laboratories in all the subjects. 21 laboratories are available for Under Graduate students and 14 laboratories are available for Post graduate students. The English Language Laboratory is fitted with computers for development of communication skills. The total number of computers in the College is 296.

SPORTS


The College has a large play field and good sports facilities. The students’ talent in sports and games is encouraged. As a result, the College is in the forefront of sports and games activities and produced sports men and women with outstanding achievements.

NCC & NSS


The College encourages extra-curricular activities for students to participate in National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS). Many of our NCC Students represented the college at All India Level. Our NSS students have been participating actively in community service activities.

OTHERS


The College has two Seminar Halls fully air conditioned, to conduct co-curricular activities such as Seminars, Guest Lectures, Group Discussions, etc. The College has a Study Centre for Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to serve the students of IGNOU and many more developmental activities are under contemplation.
